Sometimes people like to make the jump from being a simple employee to being the employer. What we have found holds people back at times, is a little bit of fear from the unknown. It’s a logical fear and we completely understand that! It’s a lot to undertake when and if you decide to build your own business.

Everything from deciding what type of entity you are (sole proprietor, LLC, S Coprs, etc.) to maybe getting a loan to finding a good space for you to tracking expenses and everything else under the sun can be overwhelming. But it’s also a bit scary taking a leap from a steady paycheck to a risk of having to make your own profit. It’s a lot of long hours, number crunching, and stressing.

Once you process all that, though, the excitement kicks in because you get to be your own boss, set your own hours, and work at something you’re passionate about. That last tidbit, is what’s key; finding something you’re passionate about.

They say if you’re doing something you love, you’ll never work a day. While there’s definitely a lot of elbow grease that goes into having your own business, if what you’re doing is something you deeply care about and put your all into it, it all becomes worth it.

While taxes tend to make people groan and worry, and at times make even us want to pull our hair out, it’s something that we really care about. That’s what our passion is! For us, it’s not so much about spending our days dealing with numbers, but more like solving a puzzle, Sherlock Holmes style. We take the information given to us by our clients, plug it into our fancy dancy tax software, and then wave our magic wand!

Okay, we don’t really have a magic wand, but for each and every client, we give them the best services and interpretation of tax regulation we can in order to give them the best tax return possible. We do this by staying up to date with tax laws and regulations, making sure we have all tax documents necessary from our clients, and ask questions when necessary. We put all the pieces of information together and the end result is a fully completely tax return.

Sure tax season is one crazy, busy, whirlwind of a season that uses up all our brain cells by the end of April, but we get a really great feeling wrapping up someone’s return. Not to mention it’s a good feeling knowing we provided a service for someone and helped take a weight off their shoulders. For us, that’s what it’s all about.

Whether it’s yoga, construction, therapy, marketing, painting, baking or whatever really gets your blood flowing, if it’s something that keeps you up at night thinking that one day you’ll do XYZ, maybe you should consider making the change now! After all, they also say there’s no time like the present and carpe diem!

But if the overwhelming fear of the unknown is still keeping you from taking the big leap, feel free to contact us for any questions you may have. We’d love to hear your ideas and dreams and help point you in the right direction. If you’re just starting at the drawing board or just need some final advice on how your taxes will work now that you’re a business owner, we’ll gladly help you out! Because if there’s anything we know other than taxes, it’s how to navigate the process of setting up a business. There’s nothing quite like it!

So with this New Year, why not take that leap? Have no fear, we’ll be here to help you with any questions you may have!
