“The question isn’t who is going to let me, but who is going to stop me.” ~ Ayn Rand
I guess it’s only proper to introduce the writer behind the AOB articles we post with the intention of helping our clients and anyone else who may come across our blog! We also thought it best that we posted articles that weren’t loaded with a ton of accounting jargon the ordinary person wouldn’t comprehend. Not everyone has an accounting background, so we also thought it best to write the posts from the viewpoint of someone who is like our clients.
So Hello!
My name is Kelsey and I am the person behind the blog! Kim and I brainstorm over what we think clients need to know and questions frequently asked, then post responses not only to the AOB website, but also to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Tumblr! Like our clients, I don’t have an accounting or finance background! In fact, I have a degree in Communication from Virginia Tech with a minor in Leadership.
We thought that if I could interpret and understand the technical information and easily relay it to our clients, then it’s a win-win for everyone! Not only am I disseminating information, but I’m learning what our clients need to know, and it’s written in a way everyone can understand. Not to mention it helps with relating to clients who might be just starting out in the real world or their first business by letting them know whatever questions, comments, concerns or fears they may have, they are not alone.
Outside of the creative space that is Accounting Outside the Box, though, I thoroughly enjoy long walks on the beach, dinners by moonlight, and binge watching the Bachelorette. JUST KIDDING! Nothing wrong with those options, but I’m usually found always reading a book, deep in the Blue Ridge mountains hiking, cooking, hanging with my family or doing jig saw puzzles. Currently I love binge watching Outlander and Spartacus and have been known to settle down with Nicholas Sparks movies and ice cream. And I’m prone to think that a bad day can be fixed with cheesecake or brownies and an adventure, tend to leave origami cranes on people’s desks, and wish I had a soundtrack for life like movies do.
Enough about me though! If you have any questions regarding pretty much anything, check out our blog to see if we’ve posted answers to your questions and if we haven’t, feel free to give us a call, we just might have to write about for other with similar questions!
